Marymount School of Quezon City was established in 1987 as Marymount Child Development Center offering Nursery, Kindergarten and Preparatory levels. In 1994, it opened its doors to elementary pupils and in 2005, it started accepting high school students. The school is recognized by the Department of Education and was certified by PEAC-FAPE in 2014 for 3 years. With the continuous improvements in its instructional program and facilities and enhancement of teacher and staff competencies, it has earned a 5-year certification from PEAC in 2017.
The expansion of classrooms, facilities and curricular offerings and the prestige brought by the PEAC certification impelled the Board and school community to revisit the school name. After consultations with stakeholders, Marymount Child Development Center (MCDC) was changed to Marymount School of Quezon City (MSQC).
Marymount School is an active member of the Association of Private School Administrators (APSA) and Inter-School Academic and Athletic League (ISAAL). Its teachers and students participate regularly in various activities and competitions sponsored by these organizations as well as DepEd sponsored events.
The school’s founder and president, Dr. Editha Maniago, places high expectations on coordinators and teachers and keeps them abreast with relevant content, new strategies and teaching technologies through workshops and graduate studies. Marymount’s educational program and environment offer a conducive room to discover, learn and grow for students to become intelligent and responsible members of the family and community. This is manifested by community service in the barangay and other institutions for the disadvantaged members of the society. The school takes pride as well in the commendable performances of the students in previous national achievement tests like NEAT, NSAT and presently the NAT and awards received in academic competitions.
The Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), under the guidance of the Department of Education (DepEd), has been tasked with the implementation of a quality assurance certification system. This system is designed to validate that private junior high schools participating in the Education Service Contracting (ESC) program meet the standards set by DepEd for recognition.
Marymount School of Quezon City is among the schools that continually achieves this certification and demonstrates full adherence to DepEd’s recognition standards, follows relevant DepEd policies, and successfully completes the self-study process as outlined by the ESC Certification Unit of the PEAC National Secretariat.
Marymount School has been awarded a 5-year certification status in School Year 2018-2019.
